What is a heat pump?
A heat pump is an energy efficient alternative to other types of heating and cooling systems such as furnaces, electric baseboards, or air conditioning. Heat pumps keep your home comfortable year round providing heating and cooling.
They are highly efficient systems that run on electricity, which make them a great addition for a sustainable and energy efficient home.
Benefits of a heat pump
1. Year Round Comfort, Even in a Canadian Winter
Heat pump systems are designed to keep your home warm in temperatures as low as -25°C, and cool through hot, humid summers. One system, comfortable in every season.
2. Save Energy
Save energy and potentially lower your heating bills. A heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than a traditional furnace, keeping your home warm through a Canadian winter while using less energy.
3. Qualify for Incentives
Canada offers heat pump incentives through federal, provincial and utility programs. Recently, the federal government announced a new National Heat Pump Rebate of up to $10,000 for eligible below-median-income households, and $2,000 for other eligible households. You can read more, here.
